AEC-TEA opens 2010 with MBB Print E-mail

mbb zeOn March 13, AEC-TEA got the new semester off to a strong start with a successful opening ceremony.  The event started off with a presentation by the children's dance class taught by Finnish volunteer Saara.  After that, the audience was treated to a festival of Brazilian and international short films called Filme do Minuto, followed by the main event: the music of Zé Ramalho intepreted by some of the best local (and international) musicians, an event known as MBB (Música Bacana Brasileira). The warm reception of the event provided grounds for optimism in 2010, a year that is promising a number of events and novelties.

Beyond the typical line-up of language classes for adults and children, volunteers have increased participation in community projects, including a day-care center in another neighborhood further from the city center, a home for mentally challenged patients, and a government program for at-risk youth.  Stay tuned to find out more about AEC-TEA participation in the community!
