The dancing continues at AEC-TEA Print E-mail

Dance at CAPSDance workshops have continued to be popular at AEC-TEA throughout the first semester of 2010.  AEC-TEA now features classes throughout the week with various styles for all age groups, and workshops have been nonstop since before Carnaval!  AEC-TEA volunteers are hoping to make dance a part of upcoming theater presentations as well as the big cultural festival that the we will be putting on in early May.

In February, Finnish volunteer Saara, with a little help from Marina (from the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais) restarted ballet for children on Fridays.  After a successful month that ended in March with a dance recital during AEC-TEAs semester-opening party, dance classes have been continued by Marina and then by Rami, from the United States, who is teaching various styles including hip-hop and carribean dance, to both childen and adults.  Not only that, but AEC-TEA has also taken dance classes to our community partners, including PETI - a program providing at-risk youth with educational and cultural activities - and CAPS - a program for mentally challenged adults.

We are excited that Michelle will be arriving from the US in May to continue our dance program, and hope that other dance instructors will continue to come and help us provide excellent arts programs in the community!
